Preparing for a game is a whole lot better than preparing for a meal on Thanksgiving when you play high school football. Several San Antonio teams were still standing in the playoffs coming into this week.
But not all would move further during the holiday season.
Two local teams actually faced each other as the O'Connor Panthers played the Reagan Rattlers at Farris Stadium. And it was undefeated O'Connor that kept the streak alive, winning 45-21.
The Smithson Valley Rangers did a great job of hanging with the Austin Westlake Chaparrals in the first half but Westlake pulled away in the second half to win 51-31.
The Steele Knights continued their tear after a slow start to the regular season. They've now won seven in a row after winning their playoff matchup against the Vandegrift Vipers by the score of 36-18.
In other playoff action, the Canyon Lake Hawks got off to a slow start but they finished strong to eliminate the Pleasanton Eagles, winning 28-10.
At Heroes Stadium on Friday, Boerne Champion's season came to an end as the Chargers lost their playoff game 69-7 to the Angleton Wildcats.
Finally, the Holy Cross Knights were shut out by the Regents School of Austin Knights 32-0.
