There were only four San Antonio-area teams still alive in the high school football playoffs coming into Friday night. But now only two remain.
Of the two that are still alive, the O'Connor Panthers. They're still perfect in the regular season and postseason after defeating the San Benito Greyhounds in a shootout in Corpus Christi.
The Panthers jumped out to an early lead but had to keep pouring it on throughout the game as they won 52-43.
The Steele Knights continue to be an incredible comeback story. After starting the regular season 1-3, they're still alive for a state title after beating the Weslaco East Wildcats on Friday night at the Alamodome 36-21.
As for the teams heading home after a long playoff run, the Navarro Panthers were eliminated by the Cuero Gobblers 38-24 at Heroes Stadium on Friday night.
Finally, Canyon Lake fell to La Vega 33-14.
