Kens5.com's David Flores has been honored as Sportswriter of the Year by the Lone Star Conference for his work covering University of the Incarnate Word sports.

He is the first recipient of the award to write exclusively online and not for a print publication.

This is not the first time the conference has recognized Flores with the Kirk Hill Award for his work. He shared the honor with another sportswriter in 1982 while writing for the San Antonio Express-News.

Flores has been covering sports in San Antonio -- high school, collegiate and professional -- for decades. Visit his blog to see his latest work. Also visit his Facebook page to give him a big "congratulations!"

The Kirk Hill Award is given annually to outstanding sportscasters and sportswriters who cover the Lone Star Conference.
