Tim Duncan is expected to sign a new contract with the San Antonio Spurs, possibly as soon as this week. That much isn't a subject of serious debate in NBA circles.

After all, Duncan dubbed himself a "Spur for life" during the recent playoff season.

But just when will the deal be done? Nobody is certain.

The future of the Spurs star seemed to be coming into focus Tuesday after Yahoo! Sports reported that Duncan is expected to sign a three-year contract this week. The report cites "league sources" for the tip. Other media outlets have followed up on the report.

But all is silent from the team's offices, and no news releases announcing Duncan's agreement have emerged.

Regardless, the team has been active already this week, with agreements announced for Danny Green and Boris Diaw.
