IRVING, Texas (AP) — Jay Ratliff went to the Dallas Cowboys coaches at halftime, insisting that he was to blame for how Philadelphia was running the ball.
Though coach Wade Phillips didn't completely agree with the nose tackle's personal assessment, that accountability is just another reason the coach thinks so highly of Ratliff.
Ratliff said Wednesday that he doesn't want to be "a weak link" on the team and that he had two bad plays before halftime when Philadelphia ran for 70 yards. The Eagles had only 19 after that, and the Cowboys went on to win to take over sole possession of the NFC East lead.
In that game Sunday night, Ratliff had two sacks and matched his season high with eight tackles.
The former seventh-round pick had 42 tackles and four sacks this season.
