SAN ANTONIO - Jerry Jones envisions a crowd of more than 100,000 at Cowboys Stadium for the Sept. 20 home opener against the New York Giants.
On Friday, he detailed how that can happen.
The Cowboys unveiled a $29 Party Pass that will give fans access to the six party decks in each end zone and more than 180,000 square feet of space overlooking the field.
The new stadium seats about 72,000, including suites and club seats. Jones said the party decks can hold up to 35,000 people.
"I don't ever envision seats in these areas," said Jones, the Cowboys' owner and general manager. "That's the experience we're trying to go for here."
The Party Pass would not count toward the blackout policy and would allow the Cowboys to determine the standingroom space based on the game or opponent.
Jones' interest in the party deck areas was first piqued while attending a game at Tampa's Raymond James Stadium, where fans can mill in a picnic-type area in each end zone.
However, the fans there also had seats in the stands. At Cowboys Stadium, the fans will not have seats.
Jones sees the Party Pass areas becoming a mix between the Pavilion at the HP Byron Nelson Championship and the infield at the Kentucky Derby, where fans come for the entertainment as well as the event.
Jones said the recent crowd at the CONCACAF Gold Cup soccer doubleheader at Cowboys Stadium further sold him on the concept.
"We've got examples here where this experience is basically one that works," he said.
Party Pass tickets for the first two preseason games, the Giants opener and the Sept. 29 game vs. Carolina will go on sale at 10 a.m. Monday. Tickets can be purchased through TicketMaster.
