IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Iowa quarterback Ricky Stanzi's inconsistent play was on full display against Indiana last week.

Stanzi threw four interceptions in the third quarter as the 8th-ranked Hawkeyes fell behind by 10 points. Stanzi then bailed Iowa out, tossing two long TDs to give the Hawkeyes (9-0, 5-0 Big Ten) the lead for good in a 42-24 win.

Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz says he never considered pulling Stanzi. He says Stanzi has the rare ability to keep pushing forward when he struggles, much like a relief pitcher in baseball.

Stanzi is 17-3 as a starter heading into Saturday's game against Northwestern (5-4, 2-3).
