Isn't it nice when big events like Sunday's Super Bowl live up to the hype? Super Bowl 44 has already made history as the most watched television event in history. But the game did much more than just provide entertainment, it provided hope for so many folks., and I'm not just talking about the folks in New Orleans.
Believe me, those folks need to celebrate, not only because the Saints won, but because the city won and the Saints played a big role in helping them. Talk about your rallies, the Citizens of New Orleans have risen from the ashes, literally.
But Sunday's game goes farther than that, because no matter what you may dealing with in your life, for at least 3 hours on Sunday, all that was put aside, it was game time! That is why we all need sports, not just me because that's how I make my living, but casual sports fans and even non sports fans had Sunday, It was a day for all of us.
Just imagine your life without sports, without the occasional escape from reality that ALL of us need. What would we talk about on Monday morning if we weren't complaining about Wade Phillips or celebrating a Spurs championship, or perhaps a bunch of talented youngsters from McAllister Park.
We need distractions in our lives and sports is the one thing does just that, it is the reality show of all reality shows. So whether you have ties to New Orleans or not, or whether you picked against them ( like I did), we can all celebrate the Saints victory, because once again on Super Bowl Sunday, we all managed to get away, to cheer or moan and treasure the gift we have in sports.
