SAN ANTONIO (AP) — It's Election Day in San Antonio as Mayor Julian Castro seeks a third term. Castro is facing six challengers. Castro gained prominence with his keynote address at last summer's Democratic National Convention.

WEST, Texas (AP) — Questions are being raised about whether a volunteer paramedic who frequently spoke to the media following the fertilizer plant explosion in West, Texas, was still a member of the town's EMS team at the time. Also, he's been charged with possessing bomb-making materials though authorities stress they haven't linked him to the explosion that killed 14 people.

ANTHONY, N.M. (AP) — Federal authorities have arrested another fugitive in a roundup of drug-related suspects along the New Mexico-Texas border. Daniel Arrieta of Anthony is charged with conspiracy to distribute heroin. On Wednesday, authorities arrested 22 of the 29 people charged in various drug crimes.

SANTA FE, Texas (AP) — A Southeast Texas woman is accused of researching treatment options after her teenage son suffered a gunshot wound instead of taking him to the hospital immediately. Deborah Tagle is alleged to have delayed hospital treatment for hours as she researched gunshot wounds on the WebMD website. Her son is in stable condition at a Houston hospital.
