Man gets life sentence in death of ex-NFL player

ST. CHARLES, Mo. (AP) — An eastern Missouri man was sentenced to life in prison for the fatal shooting of a man who was on the St. Louis Rams offseason roster.

Twenty-two-year-old Jevone L. Little of St. John was sentenced Monday for second-degree murder in the Christmas Eve 2010 death of 26-year-old Brandon Joyce in St. Charles.

Little was one of four men charged in the case. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports (http://bit.ly/XNECyJ ) prosecutors say Little shot Joyce.

A man who drove the getaway car, 23-year-old Deveon Cartez Shockley of St. Louis, was sentenced Monday to 20 years in prison. The two other defendants were already sentenced.

Joyce, of St. Charles, and was the son of former St. Louis Cardinals punter Terry Joyce. He was on the Rams offseason roster in 2010.
