WEATHERFORD - The first snowfall of the season hit North Texas this morning actually two weeks before the official winter calender date.
Denton, Palo Pinto and Parker counties were among those in the area hit by snowy weather and high winds this morning. The weather led to delayed openings at several schools.
From Mineral Wells to Weatherford, icy rain and snow could be seen falling across the area. At about 6:30 a.m., snow could be seen sticking to the ground in Sanger and Mineral Wells. There was accumulation of about a quarter of an inch in Mineral Wells.
The rainy weekend forced several cities to cancel holiday events, some of which have been rescheduled.
Frisco's tree lighting will be at 6 p.m. Friday. DeSoto will decide today if it will reschedule its Parade of Lights. Burleson's parade, tree lighting and fireworks are moved to Friday.
