Severe storms ripped through the San Antonio area early Sunday morning, causing widespread damage. Streets and homes were flooded, thousands of homes lost power and about a dozen postal vehicles were overturned at the Valley Hi Post Office.
The rain continued to fall throughout day in much of South Texas, providing a much-needed dose of precipitation to the drought-stricken region.
The National Weather Service confirmed a tornado touched down around 1:20 a.m. near the intersection of Loop 410 and Medina Base Road.
