The official grand opening of Fiesta 2012 took place in front of the Alamo from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Thursday. King Antonio, El Rey Feo, the Fiesta Commission president, Evangelina Flores and other dignitaries counted down the seconds to kick off the 11-day Fiesta that draws about 3.5 million to events across the Alamo City. Fiesta Fiesta organizers expected about 20,000 partiers at this year's kickoff. One of Fiesta Fiesta's biggest draws is Pin Pandemonium where Fiesta medals are bought, sold, traded...and proudly displayed in all their glory. And of course the Rick Cavender Band always means party!
