UPDATE: DPS has arrested 64-year-old Joseph Thomas Gabay in connection with the hit-and-run death of Larry Becker, who was struck and killed as he was riding a bike on the I-10 access road last Thursday.

The Kendall County Crime Stoppers is now offering a $25,000 reward in the case of a Boerne cyclist who was struck down and killed by a hit-and-run driver.

They say 68-year-old Larry Becker was riding his bike on the I-10 access road in Boerne near the Pfifer Road exit when someone hit him with a vehicle. The driver of that vehicle did not stop to help.

Becker died at the scene, and his bicycle was found broken in half.

Investigators say it was still daylight on Thursday when the accident happened and that the beloved husband and father was wearing bright colored clothing and a helmet.

DPS troopers say some evidence has been collected. They discovered a car antenna at the scene and are reviewing surveillance video from nearby businesses.

The retired dermatologist and Army veteran had been married for 45 years.

Those with information about the crime are asked to call Kendall County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-348-LEAD or 1-800-348-53-23.
