At age 37, Christopher Fisher weighed 800 pounds. In an exclusive interview, Chris told KENS 5 about how he tried to find medical help but could never get the proper treatment.
For years, Chris was in and out of hospitals. He suffered from heart disease, pneumonia, lymphedema and other obesity-related diseases.
Despite this, Chris said he was always turned away by doctors.
"I didn't feel anyone wanted to help," he said. "Most hospitals and medical facilities didn't have the proper resources for someone of my size."
After KENS 5's interview with Chris, Dr. John Pilcher with New Dimensions Weight Loss agreed to take his case. Pilcher was confident he could help Chris.
Chris was optimistic and determined to get his life back. But he did not get the chance.
One week before his first scheduled appointment with Dr. Pilcher, Chris passed away.
His family told KENS 5 they went to wake him up one morning but he never got up. They have not learned the cause of his death.
