A San Antonio bar that has been standing for more than 60 years suffered a huge set back after burglars recently stole thousands of dollars from a safe, but not without ransacking the place first.
Since 1947 Texas Ice located on Blanco Road has been serving cold brews without any worries, but they now have a big problem. Management says someone recently broke in and stole a safe with about $4,000, while also ransacking the bar causing equally as much in damage.
“The money that we lost from what I understand will take us six months to a year to recoup,” said general manager Vivian Hadlock.
However, it was no crime of opportunity. The bar was well secured with everything from surveillance cameras to an alarm system. That’s why officials said whoever committed the crime clearly knew what they were doing.
“I believe it’s somebody that studied where the sensors were and knew where things were at,” said Hadlock.
And that’s why even with the “whole nine yards” in security, Hadlock is hoping other small business owners will learn not to take anything for granted.
“Unfortunately, it happened to us, but I want to try and help keep it from happening to another business, another small business,” said Hadlock.
