San Antonio-- More than 300 parishoners gathered at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 2114 W. Houston to pray for the Supreme Court as justices hear arguments in Arizona vs. United States.

Senate Bill 1070 requires Arizona police officers check immigration status and it makes it a crime for an undocumented immigrant to be in Arizona without carrying proper documentation. The Supreme Court is expected to release a decision sometime in June.

Late last year, the Catholic Hispanic/Latino Bishops of the United States released an open letter to immigrants. In the five page letter, the Bishops requested a change in laws that respect family unity.

San Antonio Police Chief William McManus attended the service and spoke at a forum following the service.
