Karen Grace

Weekend Anchor / Reporter

Karen Grace was born and raised here in San Antonio, graduating from William Howard Taft High School. At Our Lady of the Lake University, Karen majored in Communications Arts and in Psychology, graduating Magna cum Laude. She also earned a Master of Science in Journalism from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois.

In 2001, Karen was honored with a Meredith Graduate Fellowship. Karen spent three years at WCBD-TV in Charleston, South Carolina, where she was the Weekend Anchor/Reporter. In 2004, she was recognized by “Skirt! Magazine” as one of the top 10 Women to Watch! Karen joined the KENS 5 Eyewitness News team in 2005, and in 2007, Karen was named weekend anchor for the 5:30 p.m., 6 p.m., and 10 p.m. newscasts.

In 2006, Karen was honored as a Northside Independent School District “Pillar of Fairness”, and since 2007, Karen has been an adjunct professor at Our Lady of the Lake University, teaching communications courses. She is an active member of the National Association of Black Journalists, and was recognized in the “Who’s Who in Black San Antonio”. The “S.A. Crime Coalition” also has recognized Karen for her excellence in crime reporting. In Karen’s “spare” time she loves speaking at schools and volunteering at charity events.
