Mayra Moreno

Reporter

Mayra Moreno began her career in the Rio Grande Valley as a reporter and associate producer for KRGV-TV. Reporting on issues like immigration, the border wall, and crime-related stories. KRGV is an independently owned and operated ABC affiliate.

Mayra's career then took her to Houston to work for CW 39 News. There she did everything from feature stories to crime beat reporting. Eventually she worked her way up and was offered the chance to anchor on the weekends as a fill-in. During her career at CW 39 Mayra was sent to Killeen where she reported on the Fort Hood shootings in November of 2009.

In October 2011, Mayra accepted a job offer in the Alamo City. She is currently a KENS 5 general assignment reporter and anchor for Eyewitness News Saturday morning from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m.

Mayra was born in Guanajuato, Mexico and raised in Houston. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Houston with a double major in Journalism and Spanish. She is the oldest of three younger siblings and a proud aunt.
