Woman, kids killed in rollover crash

SAN ANTONIO -- A woman and two children, ages six and eight, have died in a rollover crash in far southeast Bexar County, according to San Antonio police.

The crash happened around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 8000 block of Southeast Loop 410, said police.

There were reportedly four children in the vehicle at the time of the crash. A family member confirmed to KENS 5 that a 3-year-old girl and 1-year-old boy survived the crash, but were in critical condition at last check. Both of those children were transported by AirLIFE from the scene.

A fifth child, who police initially said was unaccounted, for in the accident, was reportedly in the care of the childrens' mother's fiancé. Family members told KENS 5 the woman who was killed in the crash was 19-years-old.

Investigators said the truck was traveling northbound when it lost control and rolled over several times, crossing the median.

Police told KENS 5 at the scene the children were not wearing seat belts and were ejected from the vehicle.

According to her fiancé, the mother of the children in the crash is 24-year-old Destiny Martinez. She was reportedly transported from the scene in critical condition along with her 21-year-old brother.

Investigators believe children were struck by other cars traveling in the area.

Police said it is not clear who the driver was.

More information on the crash and details on what led up to it were not immediately available.
