Two killed in hit-and-runs

SAN ANTONIO -- Police said two men died in separate hit-and-run crashes Sunday night and Monday morning.

Around 10 p.m. Sunday, 61-year-old Robert De Leon was killed in a hit-and-run at South Gevers Street and Kayton Avenue.

The San Antonio Police Department said he was taken to the San Antonio Military Medical Center where he later died.

Investigators are canvassing local businesses to see whether the crash was caught on tape, according to police.

A suspect in a "full-size white van" fled the scene, witnesses told police.

In a separate incident, police said a man believed to be 25-30 years old was killed when a vehicle hit him.

The crash happened around 12:30 a.m. Sunday in the 200 block of Peabody Avenue.

Police said the man was crushed  between two vehicles, and two suspects are in custody.

One of the suspect's vehicles was found abandoned in the 800 block of New Laredo Highway with front damage.

Police said the suspects were detained in the 6100 block of Monterey.

More information about the investigation was not immediately available.
