Three pedestrians hurt in south-side DWI crash

Three hit by suspected drunk driver

SAN ANTONIO -- Police said three people are recovering Tuesday after they were hit by a two-time DWI offender.

The San Antonio Police Department said the 54-year-old suspect, Freddie Pastrano, hit the victims as he drove north on Pleasanton Road around 7 p.m. Monday.

He reportedly did not see them in the road until it was too late.

The victims are a 49-year-old man in a wheelchair, a 30-year-old woman and her seven-year-old son.

SAPD said the mother and son, Crystal and Jonathan Olivo, were taken to University Hospital for treatment. The man in the wheelchair, Victoriano Garcia, was reportedly able to speak with officers at the scene. However, his chair was crushed.

After the initial impact with Pastrano's Toyota, police said Jonathan Olivo and Garcia were struck by a Ford Mustang.

The driver of the Mustang stopped at the scene, and was not taken into custody.

Pastrano also stopped after the incident, and he was later arrested.

Police said Pastrano was charged with his second DWI.

He is reportedly being held on a $10,000 bond.

The three victims did not use crosswalks or traffic lights on Pleasanton, according to police.

Instead, they crossed at Pleasanton and West Hart Avenue.
