DALLAS (AP) — The parents of an 18-year-old teen who died in a car crash are lamenting that he was speeding home to meet his curfew.

Ricardo and Priscilla Gonzalez tell Dallas television station WFAA (http://bit.ly/Y9b9j8 ) that their son, Fabian, lost control of his SUV and crashed a few miles from their Dallas home early Saturday morning, just after midnight.

They say they wish he had simply called to say he was late instead of speeding.

Fabian Gonzalez was an honor student who had earned a four-year college scholarship.

Police say Gonzalez lost control of his Chevy Tahoe around a curve and collided with a car in the oncoming lanes. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
