PAMPA, Texas (AP) — Texas Rangers have arrested a suspect in the strangulation death of a 42-year-old woman found dead at a home in a small Panhandle town.
Joshua Keith Rigo is booked into the Gray County Jail in Pampa on a murder charge in the death of Kristi Dawn Slatten. Trooper Daniel Hawthorne of the Texas Department of Public Safety says bond is set at $300,000 for the 28-year-old Amarillo man.
Slatten's body was found Tuesday by Gray County sheriff's deputies responding to a 911 call to the home in Lefors, about 70 miles northeast of Amarillo.
About two hours later, two men were stopped about 40 miles outside of Lefors in her vehicle. Rigo was arrested and charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle.
