CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) — Three great horned owls that fell out of their nests and needed months of rehabilitation at the Texas State Aquarium have been released.
Aquarium officials in Corpus Christi on Monday afternoon released the birds at the nearby Hans and Pat Suter Wildlife Refuge.
Authorities say two young birds were found in March in the Flour Bluff area. The other great horned owl was located at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi in May.
Aquarium experts placed the birds in an outdoor flight enclosure to help the animals practice flying and learn to hunt live prey.
