HOUSTON (AP) — A man who had pleaded guilty in the sexual assault of an 11-year-old Southeast Texas girl two years ago has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.
Jared McPherson was formally sentenced during a court hearing Friday in Liberty. He was part of a group of 20 males charged in the attack.
The 20-year-old, who had been free on bond, did not say anything before being sentenced on a charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child and taken into custody.
His sentence was part of a plea agreement with prosecutors.
Three other men who also pleaded guilty are to be sentenced Friday afternoon.
Of the 20 people charged, six juveniles and six adults have accepted plea deals. The only person to go to trial got a 99-year prison term.
