SUDAN, Texas (AP) — Services are being held in West Texas for a 55-year-old Baptist missionary found slain in her apartment in Jordan.
Cheryll Harvey was being remembered at First Baptist Church in her hometown of Sudan, about 50 miles northwest of Lubbock.
A teenager was taken into custody following the Sept. 4 stabbing death of Harvey at her apartment in Barha, a town north of the Jordanian capital of Amman. Police say the youth attacked her when she caught him trying to steal from her residence.
Harvey had taught English in Jordan for 24 years.
