KILLEEN, Texas (AP) — Firefighters have discovered three bodies in the burned rubble of a Central Texas apartment complex.
The Killeen Fire Department did not immediately identify the bodies located Friday morning. Fire Chief J.D. Gardner says all three bodies were in the same unit.
Gardner says a woman at the scene reported that her mother and another woman were unable to escape the flames that destroyed the 24-unit Casa Tejas (TAY'-hahs) Apartments.
Killeen police say two people were hurt and have been taken to a hospital. Their conditions weren't immediately released.
KWTX-TV (http://www.kwtx.com/home/headlines/169738376.html ) reports authorities believe the blaze started in a lower unit of the two-story complex. No cause has been determined. The fire was brought under control by about 3 a.m. Friday.
