FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — A 65-year-old North Texas man convicted of sexually abusing two young sisters on birthday trips to his home has been sentenced to 99 years in prison with no possibility for parole.
Prosecutors say Charles Samuel Burgess II was sentenced last week by a Tarrant County jury to 99 years on one count of continuous sexual abuse of children, which carries no eligibility for parole. He was sentenced to 20 years on an indecency count. Both sentences were the maximums.
Evidence showed Burgess abused the girls, who were relatives, when they stayed for several days alone at his home in 2010 and 2011. Prosecutors say the older girl was turning 11 and 12 when she was abused, while testimony revealed the younger sibling was abused around her 10th birthday.
