DALLAS (AP) — A $5,000 reward is offered for information leading to arrest and conviction of a suspect after a dog was found dead with its mouth taped shut in a rural East Texas area.
A statement from the SPCA of Texas on Friday says the dog's body was taken to its clinic in Dallas for a necropsy to determine what caused its death.
Since dogs don't perspire, they pant to keep their bodies from overheating. A mouth taped shut keeps a dog from panting and raises its heat stress.
