AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — The FBI is helping campus police at the University of Texas at Austin investigate anonymous hoax phone calls being made to parents of students claiming their children have been kidnapped.

UT campus police Sgt. Charles Bonnet tells KVUE-TV in Austin (http://bit.ly/LR4wNB ) that in the past month and a half, two different parents have received calls from a person with an accent demanding a small amount of money be transferred into a foreign bank account.

Authorities say no students have been kidnapped.

Investigators say they don't know how the callers are getting parents' telephone numbers.

Bonnet says any parents getting such a call should take good notes and get as much information as they can from the callers in order to help police with their investigation.
