AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Officials say a 44-year-old man wanted in a Frio County murder is in custody after being deported from Mexico this week.
The Texas Department of Public Safety says Rene Morales Munoz had been one of the longest running members of the state's most wanted fugitives list. Munoz was arrested Thursday in Houston by U.S. marshals.
Crime Stoppers tips helped place Munoz in Puerto Vallarta, where he reportedly was selling time shares to tourists under an assumed name. Anonymous tipsters will share a $10,000 cash reward.
Munoz was flown to Houston after being a fugitive for more than seven years. He also had outstanding warrants for kidnapping, aggravated assault and sexual assault.
