STEPHENVILLE, Texas (AP) — The former girlfriend of a teen who fatally bludgeoned his mother with a baseball bat has been sentenced to more than 10 years in prison.

Nila Sue Nicole Sechrist pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit murder, tampering with evidence and a drug possession charge.

As part of the plea deal Tuesday in Stephenville, prosecutors dropped murder and aggravated robbery charges.

Sechrist was 15 when her boyfriend's mother, Jana Sue Roberson, was beaten to death in 2007.

Sechrist told authorities she was there but denied participating in the fatal beating.

Cody Roberson pleaded guilty to murder and was sentenced to 50 years in prison. The Stephenville Empire-Tribune reports that he later implicated his girlfriend in the murder and agreed to testify against her. But he died in prison in April.
