AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Dell Inc. has pledged $5 million to the University of Texas at Austin to expand a center that promotes social entrepreneurship that balances money and mission among entrepreneurs.

The money will benefit the RGK Center for Philanthropy and Community Service at UT's Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs. It'll be paid out to the RGK center over five years to build upon the existing Dell Social Innovation Competition, which challenges students to submit ideas for how nonprofit organizations and and for-profit business can solve pressing social problems.

A UT statement issued Tuesday says the pledge is the largest cash donation the university has received from the Round Rock, Texas-based computer company founded by one-time UT pre-med student Michael Dell.
