Come on...wouldn't you prefer to sit on a faux bois bench than just about anywhere else outside of a one lined in memory foam? Dionicio Rodriguez brought the technique to San Antonio from Mexico back in the 1920s*. But, Rodriguez's grandnephew, Carlos Cortes, can take credit for many, if not all the recent faux bois works sprinkled around town. This bench can be found in the wonderful San Antonio Botanical Garden on Funston. Well, really, there just isn't a bad seat in the garden. So, I included a few others simply because it is just too difficult to choose which one is the best. Stop in and find which one suits you. Bring your kids and bring your camera.
Also, the garden has events year around that you'll want to attend, like the upcoming Viva Botanica. Another favorite is the Shakespeare in the Garden productions. This year "Othello" will be staged May 30 through June 2.
