SLIDESHOW: Polkas and pretzel Fiesta fun at Gartenfest

Lederhosen with knee-high socks and feathered alpine hats are traditional attire at the Gartenfest. The folksy event is held at the Beethoven Maennerchor Halle in the historic King William neighborhood.
Dine on Reubens, potato pancakes, gulasch, fried potato salad, sauerkraut and leberkase. But, leave room for the sellout German chocolate cake or apple strudel with a side of creamy vanilla ice cream. Looking for 'lighter' fare? Check out the giant salty pretzels and wash it down with a stein of dark beer. Couples work it all off dancing to a rousing polka and mouth the German lyrics to favorite songs.
This is a very family-friendly 3-day event where all are welcome. A smallish parking lot across the street offers free parking.
