A San Antonio soldier was laid to rest Thursday afternoon at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. A 1995 graduate of McCollum High School, 34-year-old Army Sgt. Steven Talamantez was on his second tour of duty when he was killed in action July 10 while supporting Operation New Dawn. Friends say Talamantez joined the Army because he wanted to help people. The funeral for Talamantez was held Thursday morning at the Westover Hills Assembly of God. Friends, family and about 100 members of the Patriot Guard Riders escorted the soldier to his final resting place. Click to view the photo slideshow.
