Sibling struck in northeast-side double shooting dies

Siblings shot on northeast side

SAN ANTONIO - A woman is dead after someone shot her and her brother Monday night on the city's northeast side.

The San Antonio Police Department said the ambush-style shooting happened around 11 p.m. in the 4300 block of Sun Vista Lane near Interstate 35 and Loop 410.

Police said someone knocked at the door of the residence and opened fire.

The victims' mother came home to find her two adult kids wounded.

The daughter, 26-year-old Joyce Medina, was shot in the upper torso area and left in critical condition. Her 23-year-old brother was shot in his lower body, as well as near his neck. He was in stable condition after the shooting.

Both siblings were transported to the San Antonio Military Medical Center where the woman was later pronounced dead.

Witnesses reported seeing a red Dodge pickup truck leaving the scene, but weren't able to provide descriptions of a possible suspect.
