Many San Antonio-area schools are failing to keep up with nationwide standards, according to a federal report just released.
The report says 13 of Bexar County's 16 school districts didn't meet federal requirements set under the "No Child Left Behind" Act.
However, Bexar County is not alone. The report says fewer than half of Texas schools meet those standards.
In response, the Association of Texas Professional Educators released a statement that said in part, "This announcement demonstrates a failure of the federal accountability system, not a failure of the students."
