SAN ANTONIO - Many San Antonio workers participated in the "Day Without Immigrants" movement Thursday.
For example, the La Michoacana Meat Market on Blanco Road said all 20 employees did not show up for work. However, managers said the store was still open.
As KENS 5 reported, about 200 housekeepers and nannies who belong to the group Domesticas Unidas were asked not to go to work Thursday in order to participate.
The movement is meant to show communities how large and involved immigrant populations are.
The boycott also goes beyond going to work. It calls for immigrant parents not to send their kids to school and not spend any money. That means no gassing up, shopping or eating out.
This is a developing story, and KENS5.com will continue to post updates as they become available.
