SAN ANTONIO -- Starting on September 12, 1987 Pope John Paul II made an historic two-day visit to San Antonio drawing crowds of hundreds of thousands of people.
While in the Alamo City the Pope held one private mass and two public masses. The first was held at San Fernando Cathedral and the second in northwest San Antonio at Westover Hills on the future site of Stevens High School.
