Jessica Ghawi was a sports blogger whose readers knew her as Jessica Redfield.

Her life was tragically cut short on July 20 in a massacre at a Colorado movie theater.

Now her family and friends are collecting sports equipment and money for young children who have lost their homes in natural disasters like wildfires.

The organization is called "A Precious Child" and they are holding drives in Denver and hope to hold drives in San Antonio in the future.

So far, the non-profit has collected more 25,000 items and $40,000.

Sandy Phillips, Jessica's mother, says they were inspired by the idea because Jessica was touched by wildfire victims and wanted to find a way to help them before she died.
