Election Day: Seven state propositions on 2017 ballot

SAN ANTONIO - Seven state-wide propositions are on the ballot today in addition to several city and county elections.

The constitutional amendments on the ballot include a property tax exemption from ad valorem taxation for the surviving spouse of a first responder who is killed in the line of duty.

Another proposition is a property tax exemption for wounded veterans who receive a donated house from a charitable organization.

The local races include races in Converse, Windcrest, Leon Valley, and Schertz.

Schertz City Councilman Robin Thompson is also up for re-election. He came under fire in September when he posted a meme to Facebook about the Black Lives Matter movement.

The ballot also includes two races for San Antonio River Authority Board of Directors members.
