Off-duty SAPD officer arrested, accused of DWI

SAN ANTONIO - San Antonio police reportedly arrested one of their own early Thursday morning after he was accused of driving while intoxicated.

At 2:21 a.m., officers from the San Antonio Police Department arrested 34-year-old Arthur Lopez.

He was driving a silver pickup truck in the wrong direction on Navarro Street, causing a crash with another driver at the Market Street intersection, police said.

According to an arrest report from SAPD, Lopez had blood-shot eyes and officers could "smell a strong odor of intoxicants" on his breath.

He also told officers at the scene he "drank two Moscow Mule mixed drinks" before the crash happened. He also said he could not remember where he had been drinking and where he was parked prior to driving home, according to police.

Lopez was booked on a "Class B" misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated.
