SAN ANTONIO - A woman is facing a third-degree felony charge after a Saturday evening head-on collision that sent five people to the hospital.
Police say 31-year-old Iriana Betsabel Najera was driving southbound in a white 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe just after 10 p.m. Saturday when she veered into oncoming traffic on O’Connor Road.
Five passengers were also traveling southbound in a 2002 maroon Chevrolet Suburban when Najera struck their vehicle.
One passenger in that vehicle, identified as 41-year-old Veronica Padilla, was transported to SAMCC with head trauma.
A 12-year-old child who was seated in the back suffered a broken femur and was taken to University Hospital.
There were three other passengers in the suburban at the time of the accident. They were transported to University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Najera was checked out the scene where it was determined that she was intoxicated.
She was booked into the Bexar County Magistrate’s office and charged with intoxication assault with a bond of $25,000.
