'WAF's honored with living history fashion show

History of Air Force attire for women

SAN ANTONIO - Lackland Air Force Base was taken back in time Friday morning. Current service members put on a living history fashion show for Women in the Air Force or 'WAF'.

"I'm more worried about representing them well than I am about representing myself," said Staff Sergeant Jennifer Dowling.

Dowling was one of 21 women in the fashion show. Most of the attendees were WAFs who came to Lackland for a day of special events and tours.

"I thoroughly enjoyed the Air Force," said former First Lieutenant Mary Hall. "I liked the people and my work."

She also liked the fashion show, which presented female Air Force uniforms from 1948 through 1976.

"It's super cool," said Captain Angelina Maldanado. "Especially when one woman came up to me and said, 'I wore that exact uniform.'"
