UT Health & Science Center announces partnership with MD Anderson

Changing cancer care in SA

SAN ANTONIO-- Cancer has touched nearly every family and now, San Antonio is getting ahead of the disease.

"This new undertaking will be an advance in an effort to find cures," said UT Health Science Center President Dr. Bill Henrich.

He said UT Health Science Center will partner with one of the best cancer centers in the world, Houston's MD Anderson.

"This is a day we've worked on for a year and a half. It’s designed to make it unnecessary for patients who have cancer to ever leave San Antonio,” said Dr. Henrich. “There will be new care teams, a new pharmacy, new infusion areas, as well as expanded programs more availability of clinical programs."

Ronald Herrmann knows how helpful this will be for San Antonians. He and His wife Karen are both cancer survivors who received treatment at CTRC.

"We think it will give the patients more availability in treatment," Herrmann said.

The collaboration will also create new jobs for the area and new hope for patients.
