Two arrested on south side after leading BCSO on high-speed chase

SAN ANTONIO – After leading Bexar County Sheriff Deputies on a high-speed chase Monday evening, a man and woman have been arrested on multiple charges.

Manuel Villanueva, 32, and Jessica Hernandez, 31, were taken into custody on Monday after leading deputies on a high-speed chase involving a stolen SUV on the city’s south side.

A deputy with BCSO began pursuing the white Jeep Cherokee in the 10,000 block Highway 181 after identifying it as stolen around 5 p.m. Monday.

Six BCSO patrol vehicles chased the stolen Jeep in the south San Antonio neighborhood until one deputy rear-ended the vehicle into oncoming traffic of Interstate 35 and Ripford Street.

The driver immediately jumped out of the vehicle surrendering to police. No one was injured.

Both Villanueva and Hernandez were charged with evading vehicle, theft of a vehicle, and a drug charge.
