Austin bar employee files lawsuit against Johnny Manziel after alleged attack

AUSTIN - A Downtown Austin bar employee has filed a lawsuit after former Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel allegedly punched him back in September, court documents show.

KVUE obtained a copy of the lawsuit filed Monday, which stated that the employee was working as a bar-back at a bar called New York, New York when Manziel "demanded" drinks from him. The man told him he could not take his order because he is not a bartender, the document said.

Later, a member of Manziel's group overheard the employee talking about Manziel to a different customer. Manziel then allegedly approached the employee after learning about the conversation. The lawsuit states that Manziel ran behind the bar, cursed at the employee and punched him in the face. The lawsuit said the force of the punch broke the man's nose.

The employee said he then grabbed Manziel, causing them to fall to the floor. Manziel allegedly fled after that.

The plaintiff is suing for monetary damages over $200,000, but not more than $1 million.

This is not Manziel's first brush with legal issues. His ex-girlfriend accused him of hitting her and threatening to kill her early this year.
