Texas Thrift store back open after deadly Ingram Square Shopping Center fire

SAN ANTONIO - The thrift store that was a part of the deadly Ingram Square Shopping Center fire that killed veteran firefighter Scott Deem reopened its doors Friday morning.

Five months since the deadly blaze, Texas Thrift made the announcement on its Facebook page that they would open at 9 a.m. Friday.

The consignment shop underwent remodeling that they mentioned took longer than expected since the May 18 fatal fire.

Emond Johnson, the owner of a gym in the same strip, was arrested on October 4 under suspicion of starting the fire.

Johnson was even interviewed by KENS 5 the night of the blaze as a bystander on the scene.
